Getting to know Amber
Where are you from?
I live in a small town in Indiana just off Lake Michigan.
If you had to perform in a talent competition right now, what would your talent be?
I’m really good at mimicking different accents or at least I think I am. I love making people laugh.
What’s your favorite movie quote?
“Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and above all, those who live without love.” ~ Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows
Tell us a fun fact about yourself that would surprise your readers.
I’m not sure I could surprise them. With me, what you see is what you get. I’m the same person whether I’m an author or a reader. I’m loud, crazy, and I speak fluent sarcasm. I’m basically perfect.
Who’s your favorite cover model?
Travis DesLaurier .. le sigh…
Okay, back to books, what genres do you write?
I’m a contemporary romance author that loves to dabble in the feels. Whether it’s alpha millionaires, hidden secrets, dark romances full of twists, book hangovers, ugly cries, or romantic comedies I have something for you. ❤
What is your inspiration?
People fascinate me. I tend to pull from my surroundings so if we’ve bumped into each other there’s a good chance I’ve might have used you as inspiration in one of my books!
Tell us about your latest book?
Indigo is a romantic comedy that’s just as funny as it is sexy.
Indie is a city girl from New York and she’s taking an overdue break from life. She’s decided to spend the summer, if not longer, with her bestie in Alabama. Of course, Indie has sworn off men, because love only leads to heart aches and lies. But when she collides with Lex in a bar, hilarious banter soon follows which leads to some seriously steamy scenes.
Most romance stories revolve around a damsel in distress being saved by a knight in shining armor. If that’s what you are looking for, then I’m afraid this isn’t your book. However, if you want a leading lady who is independent, doesn’t take crap for anyone, says what she feels, and doesn’t need a man … then this is the book for you.
Sometimes it’s the knights that need to be saved.

I’m lying curled up on my side with his arms wrapped tightly around me. I’m cocooned by him. I feel so incredibly safe with him.
“We could do this every day. I like having you at my place. Move in with me.” Theron sighs as he kisses the back of my head.
My heart is pounding in my chest. I want to say yes, but I’m so scared. We barely know each other. “I just…is it too soon?” I’m chewing on the inside of my cheek.
Scooting back, he turns me to face him, taking my face in his hands. “Eve, I want you to be the last thing I see before I close my eyes at night, and the first thing I see when I open them in the morning. I want to feel your breath on my face when you sleep. I want to breathe you in. I want to feel your heartbeat against my palms when I wrap my arms around you. I want to know you’re real, and to know you’re mine. I’m keeping you. I will always protect you and cherish you. Please move in with me, beautiful.” He’s asking me to move in, but it almost sounds like a marriage proposal. If I’ve learned anything over the past few days, it’s that there are no guarantees in life. People can come and go so easily.

This time I don’t keep my eyes open, instead I close them, letting the feeling of his soft flesh against mine take me somewhere I’ve never willingly gone. His tongue brushes against my bottom lip and I slowly open to him. He caresses my tongue with his slowly at first, then quickening his speed. Our tongues mingle, as our lips dance among the stars, exploding in the distance. My hand softly wraps around the back of his neck, pulling him closer to me. I can’t explain the sudden urge I have, but I want to feel every inch of his flesh pressed up against mine. My fingers slide into his hair, slightly scraping along his scalp. He moans into my mouth and I freeze. Have I hurt him? He pulls back from me, but I can’t look him in the eye. If I hurt him than I’m no better than him.
“Angel, don’t look away from me. Come back from wherever you went inside that head of yours. I liked what we were doing. In fact, I loved it. Didn’t you?”
“I hurt you.”
“What? That’s impossible. I’m Superman.” My eyes slowly move up, taking in the handsome man in front of me. “See?” Laith pulls the neckline of his long-sleeved shirt down, revealing a Superman symbol tattooed on the left side of his chest. “I’m branded and all. You can’t hurt Superman. He’s invincible.”
A small laugh escapes from my lips, as a smile forms once again on my face. “Laith, did you call me Angel?”
“Angels are full of light and beauty. I’m no Angel. I’ve been tainted. I’m dark, twisted, and broken. I’m the farthest thing there is from an Angel.”
“Those are the stories they tell children so they sleep better at night. Real Angels have been in battles. They’ve killed. They watched as their brothers fell from heaven. You can’t tell me they didn’t fight for each other. They are warriors with golden shields and broken wings. I can tell by the way your eyes swirl with darkness trying to overtake them, you’ve fought battles no man should see. Angel fits you perfectly.”
Words cease to exist.
Sometimes love is fated in the stars. You know you are destined for each other. Your souls entwine and you can’t imagine your life without them.
Sometimes it’s found when you’re not looking for it. It peeks around the corner when you least expect it, sweeping you off your feet, carrying you off into the sunset.
Sometimes, there are a lucky few who get to experience both. I was one of the lucky ones.

A grunt escapes my lips, as I try to roll over. It’s late. I’m not sure what time it is exactly, but I know it’s late. The lights on the pole are lit up, sending random colors reflecting off the windows and the mirror of his dresser. It’s calmingly beautiful. Holden is spread across the end of the bed with his long legs hanging over the side. It takes a few minutes for my eyes to adjust to the darkness.
Lifting the blanket off of me, I kneel on the bed, leaning towards Holden, attempting to see if he’s awake. My heart does a little flip when I notice a small brown, worn looking stuffed dog. I cannot believe he has kept it all this time. We were ten years old and we thought we owned the world, as we walked around the state fair.
I had forced Holden on every ride and he was paying for it with a massive headache. I kept teasing him about being weaker than me. I must have taken things a little too far because he wouldn’t look at me. Knowing I had hurt him, I grabbed him by the arm and dragged him behind me, until I found a game I knew I could win.
There was a rather obese man with greasy hair wearing a red shirt, juggling baseballs in front of his stand. Plates were lined up awkwardly on shelves behind him. All I had to do was break three plates and I would win the huge stuffed bear hanging on a wall full of smaller prizes. It took me eleven tries before I finally broke two plates.
I guess the guy must have felt bad for me because he handed me a small, brown stuffed dog with a white heart on its nose and told me to move along. It wasn’t what I was hoping for, but I gave it to Holden anyways. My reward was the tiniest of kisses on my cheek.
Giggling to myself, I lay back down. I’m not sure he would want me to see him sleeping with a stuffed animal, but I’m glad that I did. An idea pops into my head, just as I start to relax again. My eyes peer around the room until I find what I’m looking for. Sneaking over to his dresser as quietly as I can, I grab his camera and tiptoe back over to the bed.
The camera flashes when I snap his picture, causing me to immediately regret my decision. Afraid he might wake up and catch me, I grab the Polaroid picture and put the camera back where I found it. I slip back into bed and pull the blanket over me just in time. He rolls over and sits up a bit. My heart is frantic, as I watch him look across the room. I see his head turn and I quickly close my eyes.
“What are you doing?” His voice is raspy, almost menacing. Shit. I don’t answer, instead I pretend to be asleep. “I know you. I know when you are up to something. I also know you are awake. Being that it’s the middle of the night, I’m going to pretend I don’t know anything and I’m going back to sleep. Goodnight, Carsten.”
“Night.” Shit. Did I just answer him? I hear him laugh as he rolls over. Shit. I did answer him. Maybe he will forget, at least I hope he does. I wait a few minutes to make sure he’s sound asleep before I grab the Polaroid, shaking it a few times. There’s a glare from the flash. It almost looks as though Holden has a golden light surrounding him. I can barely make out the dark lump tucked under his arm. A grin spreads across my face, as I slide the picture into the pillowcase under my head.

Chills spread across my skin as he spun me away from him and back again. We were completely off beat, but it didn’t matter. I was locked in a deep blue gaze, lost to the man pulling my strings. I was his personal puppet as we danced. Every tug or pull of his touch had me under his spell. When the song ended, I found myself wrapped in his arms with my lips pressed firmly against his. Breaking our kiss, he lifted me from the dancefloor and carried me back to the table with my legs wrapped around his waist.
“Stay.” he ordered. Nodding my head, I watched as he fixed himself before heading toward the bar.
“Holy shit, Indie.” Erin said as Lex walked away.
Turning toward Erin, I propped my arm up on the table. “What?”
“Is it always like that between you two?”
“What do you mean?” I asked, confusion painting my face.
“Besides the fact that you two were basically fucking on the dance floor? I’m talking about the way he looks at you. It’s like he’s starving and you’re the first sight of food he’s seen in days. Sweetie, he’s going to devour you.”
“God, I hope so.”
