Spotlight Sunday: Weston Parker

Check out our interview with Weston Parker…
Where are you from?

I am from a small town north of Houston called Huntsville, Texas. It is known for its prison system and they told us when we were kids that if you didn’t get out of Huntsville that you would end up working in the prison system or end up in the prison itself. So, that was enough of a warning to get me out of that town. Good hamburgers though.

If you had to perform in a talent competition right now, what would your talent be?

I don’t like to be boastful, but I have an incredible talent of telling the difference between starburst and skittles when I’m blindfolded. Maybe that’s not going to get me far but if there is ever a need, I’m the guy. I guess I can play a little piano as well but that is not nearly as impressive as my starburst, skittles skill.

What’s your favorite movie quote? (Make sure to include the name of the movie)

“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn’t exist” – Kevin Spacey

The Usual Suspects.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that would surprise your readers.

I’m a huge movie buff. I love all kinds of movies, even the chick flicks as they are called. A good plot and good cast of characters makes a great movie. When I tell people this, they don’t typically believe me because I can be perceived as a big, scary man but if the Notebook was back in theaters I would be there.

Okay, back to books, what genres do you write?

I write bad boy romance and romantic suspense. If I had the choice, I love writing romantic suspense but I would write something out of the ordinary. I think writing a horror novel would be fun but for now I will stick with what I know.

What is your inspiration?

I know that you are probably looking for some great answer for this question but honestly my inspiration is my sister. Ali Parker pulled me into this crazy world of using our ability to tell stories and she keeps me on my toes when it comes to writing. We feed off of each other with plots and creative direction. Don’t let her know that I said that she was the inspiration or I will never hear the end of it, but she is a huge influence on my writing.

Tell us about your latest book?

Worth the Risk. It is about a park ranger and a professor. With my sister being an influence like I said she challenged me to step out and write a contemporary romance. It wasn’t like I was going in blind with all of the movies and books that I have watched and read. I enjoy contemporary romance and like the thought of a new challenge. It was one of the most fun times I have had writing a book. The book still has suspense, I couldn’t seem to break that habit but it was definitely a nice change of pace.
