They say there are three sides to every story…

We’ve heard from the sisters, now it’s time to hear from the men who’ve won their hearts.

No one said dating would be easy, but then again, no one mentioned that dating a Dubois sister would threaten your sanity. Officer Quentin Pope and Zephirin LeBlanc have stayed in the background and let their girlfriends take the lead, but not anymore.

They’re setting the record straight…

Southern gossip, jealous exes, hidden agendas, meddling family members, and one hell of an unexpected twist push both couples toward the edge of crazy. However, in the bayou, nothing worth having comes without a battle, and Pope and Zep are laced up and ready to fight.

Only the strong survive, and if you want to be a part of this family, you have to start by getting off the porch.

Excerpt #1

Zep

Focusing on the road and having phone s with your girlfriend was like trying to wrestle an alligator and play a game of chess at the same time. The shit didn’t work. A man had to pick one thing or the other. Both activities require massive concentration and trying to accomplish both ended in a massive ten car pile-up.

Which, at this point, I’d be willing to risk.

The minute Addie moaned my name, two things happened. My hand dove for my dick again and she let out a scream.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the kind of scream that let me know I’d completed my mission. No, this was a horrified scream followed by a thud and a groan of pain.

Nothing will limp a dick faster than the sound of a man’s girlfriend moaning in torture.

“Addie? What the fuck?”

Addie’s shrill voice tore through the phone so loud, I had to pull it away from my ear or risk permanent deafness. “Get out! What the hell are you doing in here?”

Initial fury ripped through my veins, and I almost turned the car toward her exit.

Who the fuck is in her room?

“Ads?” Savannah sing-songed in the background. “Who’s on the phone? Where are all your clothes? Are we invoking naked Sundays now, because I gotta tell ya, I don’t know if I’m down with free pussing on the holy day.”

Addie was having none of her shit. “Don’t you fucking knock?”

Savannah laughed and repeated herself. “Who’s on the phone?”

“Oh, God,” Addie wailed. “I’m going to die right here.”

“Hi, Zep,” Savannah called out with a smirk in her voice. “You two kids having fun?”

Excerpt #2

Pope

Climbing into my jeep, I loosened my tie with one hand and found the contact I was looking for with the other. There was only one voice I wanted to hear—the only one that would cause my heart to thunder in my chest for an entirely different reason.

“Madame Savvy’s whore house—you’ve got the dough, we’ve got the ho. What’s your flavor, sugar?”

I snorted and shook my head. Only Savannah. “Hey babe, I just—”

“Uh oh, what happened?” she interrupted.

It didn’t surprise me that she knew something was up. We’d met less than six months ago, yet she knew me better than most. She knew the real me—not my name or the reputation that came with my last name—but me. I hadn’t told her the particulars about my family, but it wasn’t because I didn’t trust her. I wanted to shield her from the hurricane that was my father.

I sighed, needing a distraction from the foul mood I always found myself in after an encounter with the senator. “Just a long morning. Tell me something.”

“Like what?”

I let my eyelids drop briefly, the weight of the morning finally settling over me. “I don’t care, anything. I just want to hear your voice.”

“Kevin learned how to change the channel.”

“What?”

“I had the TV on this morning while folding laundry—”

I must’ve entered the Twilight Zone. “You were doing laundry?”

She scoffed. “It was under extreme protest. Addie practically had me at knifepoint the entire time.”

I tried to stifle my laugh. “Was anyone injured during this standoff?”

“Unfortunately, no. My knife throwing skills could use some work.”

This time, I didn’t hide my chuckle. There was something so refreshing about Savannah. She was unapologetically genuine. Her refusal to conform was the thing I loved most about her. Not that I had the balls to tell her that.

“My sister and I going all West Side Story in our living room isn’t the point here. The point is that when a commercial for pork came on, Kevin straight up reached over and slammed his little foot down on the remote until he found the Animal Planet. I swear to fuck, that pig is smarter than most people I know.”
